We’re wondering, what would get you involved as a new teacher?
It can be daunting as a new teacher to figure out a way to get involved in the union: there are three levels (national, state, and local) and many positions and committees on all of the levels! As a new teacher, what would you feel comfortable doing?
For MTA New Member Committee member Jennifer Maio, she first felt comfortable getting involved on the state level by joining the committee. After a few years, she got involved on the local and national levels. The reason she felt comfortable doing these things as a new teacher: a veteran teacher asked her.
